About

Unbeatable experience in refining and petrochemical industries

The sulphur, present in all fuels, converts to sulphur oxides on combustion and then to acid at lower dew point temperatures on contact with water vapour. These acids and their combined chemicals (polythionic acid) migrate through the refractory linings and attack the anchor weld points and steel casing, causing large, expensive repairs to the process plant.
  • hydrotemp has been successfully used, for over 30 years, to protect steel casings and anchor supports in all types of heaters, ducting and chimneys.
  • hydrotemp has excellent adhesion to metal surfaces. Coverage: in severe acqueous or atmospheric conditions 0.6m² per litre to yield a thickness of 1.5mm.
  • A permanently flexible, non-oxidising anti-corrosive coating applicable from -26°C to 204°C.
  • hydrotemp does not dry out or harden after application, which allows the product to expand/contract with the steel structure.
  • hydrotemp contains no solvents and will not soften or liquefy over its wide operating temperature range.
  • No special expensive preparation of steelwork is required, such as grit blasting. Only cleaning off with a wire brush is required, to remove loose material.
Recommended coverage 0.6m2/l to yield 1.5mm

New simple application system by pumped-brush gun
The new pumped-brush application system will apply hydrotemp at the rate of 40m2/hr at a DFT of 1.5mm using a Graco Pumped-Brush Gun or similar.
  • Single Post Ram Checkmate Application System to accept standard open-top 20 litre drum. Ram fitted with wiper plate complete with single wiper ring, up and down ram control valve, air regulator module to control ram downwards pressure.
  • Mounted on ram would be a Graco 20 litre stubby length 55:1 ratio air-operated Bulldog Checkmate pump fitted with air regulator module, 7.5mm x 9mm high pressure fluid/paint hose.
  • Manually-operated dispense valve.
  • 2” diameter Power Feed Brush, complete with 3” material feed tube and 90° brace angle.
Depending on distance to work surface, we recommend a final length of up to 5m of ¨ü” or 1” hoses for greater distances.
Hydrotempt may aso be applied by normal brush or palette knife
Corrosion under installation
The external insulation and aluminium cladding applied to process piping and vessels is exposed to penetration by rain water containing atmospheric chlorides. This risk is increased at pipe junctions and bends in piping systems.
Corrosion protection is required to repel water and protect the pipe or vessel from chloride attack.
It is also important to have a permanently flexible coating to resist cracking due to expansion/contract of long pipe runs
Hydrotempt can provide a unique solution
Tests were carried out by an independent accredited laboratory, whereby mild steel plates were sprayed with neutral salt spray and stainless steel plates were exposed to hydrogen chloride fumes.
