Your spill responders are your most valuable asset in ensuring protection of your site and the environment from pollution incidents. As legislation changes and enhancements are made in spill prevention products it is critical that spill responders and environmental officers are aware of this.

There are a great number of benefits of investing in training including:

  • Assists towards ISO14001 and Investors In People
  • Meet with PPG21 guidelines
  • Forms part of your Pollution Incident Response Plan
  • Ensures familiarity with your Emergency Plan
  • Ensures best use of spill response products
  • Awareness of the latest technologies in spill prevention and clean up
  • Controlled simulations of spill scenarious to ensure staff are fully trained
  • Meets EA guidelines

and ultimately...

  • SAVE ON WASTE I SAVE ON FINES I SAVE ON DOWN TIME

WHY ATTEND A SPILL RESPONSE TRAINING COURSE?

Regular spill response training and spill control exercises are essential to ensure that key staff understand their responsibility for site safety, spill control and environmental protection. Key staff should be familiar with emergency planning, drainage systems and all staff should have access to important telephone numbers such as the Emergency Services and local Environment Agency.

“Major pollution incidents can in many cases be prevented if appropriate pollution prevention measures are taken at an early stage. Planning is the key to success, and both preventative measures and incident response strategies need to be carefully addressed.” Environment Agency (EA)

Having taken steps to create spill contingency plans and invest in pollution protection products, it is essential that relevant staff are trained to ensure that, in the event of a spill, damage and costs are kept to a minimum and products are used correctly to ensure your business continues operations with minimal disruption.
