Recommended uses

As well as in the Float Glass Process, Brickseal Bond has many other applications:

Brickseal Bond has been widely used in industrial applications where increasingly arduous conditions imposed on boilers and furnaces by present day fuels demand the highest possible quality bonding and coating cement.  It not only provides tight joints of maximum strength which are resistant to salts and alkalis present in combustion gases but also imparts a dense and highly refractory protective barrier to the brickwork face as a further safeguard.

It has also been used for bonding, laying up and coating refractory brickwork in all types of furnaces, marine and industrial boilers including high alumina, super and high duty refractories, insulating refractory bricks and tiles.

Brickseal Bond is extremely effective when used on heat treatment furnaces, reheating furnaces, soaking pits, processing furnaces and boiler brickwork. Brickseal Bond can also be of great assistance when gas-tight joints are required in a gas making plant.

Where heavy abrasion and flame impingement occurs, two coats of Brickseal Bond may be used.

Benefits of Brickseal Bond:

  • Resistant to attack by tin over float bath temperature range
  • Supplied as a dry powder for mixing with water
  • Carefully controlled particle size grading ensures consistency for ramming
  • Ceramic set commences at 500°C,full set reached at 980°C
  • Positive permanent linear change on reheating ensures that seal is maintained
